One of my favorite moments of the entire wedding day is the couple’s first kiss. There’s a surprising amount of variation in kisses. Some people go for cute and chased others really get in there, and all levels in between.
Then there’s the no kiss wedding. It was at a catholic church and the priest told the couple they weren’t to kiss during the ceremony. I’ve really never understood why. I was standing in the back of the church in the main isle waiting for the kiss and all of a sudden they were being announced and walking towards me. I started to think I must have had a mini stroke and missed the kiss when I frantically gestured to them to stop and make out for a quick second. I swear you could hear my b-hole clinching up for about 3 miles away.
Obviously every culture is different and has its own customs. Some people kiss in the front of the church and other don’t kiss during the ceremony as a matter of tradition.
I like to talk to my couples about planning out the first kiss. I tell them to stand in the living room and try to picture what their first kiss will look like.
Is the groom going to grab her around the waist and pull her in and dip her down? Will the bride grab his coat lapels and bring him in for serious smackers?
These does two things, one its fun to practice kissing! Two it makes sure you look perfect in the first kiss picture. It’s a win win.
